An eighth case of HPAI reported in Nebraska
Nebraska has detected one other case of extremely pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) in a small, yard blended flock.
The state division of agriculture and USDA’s Animal and Plant Well being Inspection Service (APHIS) confirmed that the eighth farm is in Washington County.
State Veterinarian Dr. Roger Dudley says the farm has been quarantined and depopulation has began. NDA says it’s establishing a 6.2-mile surveillance zone across the affected farm.
The company says a confirmed case of HPAI has been detected in Republic County Kansas and the surveillance zone for that flock extends into Nuckolls County, in Nebraska.
