Edo govt moves to tackle neonatal mortality

The Edo State Authorities is launching a brand new initiative tagged ‘Assist Child Survive’ to sort out excessive maternal and baby mortality within the state.

The Commissioner for Well being, Prof. Obehi Akoria, disclosed this on Wednesday whereas briefing journalists after the weekly Edo State Government Council assembly chaired by Governor Godwin Obaseki, on the Authorities Home, in Benin Metropolis.

Akoria stated the state was bringing over 65 specialists and healthcare professionals from the USA of America to offer free healthcare providers to over 4,000 individuals within the state, in partnership with over 230 native healthcare professionals in Edo.

She famous, “We’ve screened round 4,000 individuals and have scheduled over 300 of them for various surgical procedures, and one other 150 scheduled for eye surgical procedures, all without spending a dime.

“Additionally, we could have about 3,000 studying glasses or glasses for different functions distributed without spending a dime to Edo residents because of the medical mission.
