Wellington Metropolis Council employees, helped by police, have demolished buildings constructed by an occupation at Mahanga Bay.

Council spokesperson Richard MacLean stated a truck outfitted with a crane was used to take away two makeshift buildings close to the roadside about 2.30pm on Tuesday.

MacLean stated the work was carried out with out confrontation with the occupiers.

A police spokeswoman confirmed police have been in attendance. Some protesters had moved on voluntarily, however a small group had remained within the neighborhood, she stated.
