Four fire trucks were called to the night-time blaze in Tokoroa (file photo).

A night-time blaze at a vacant building in Tokoroa is being treated as suspicious.

Fire crews were alerted to the Logan St fire at 9pm. It took firefighters 40 minutes to extinguish the blaze at the old Mitre 10 building.

Four fire trucks were called to the scene.

“The fire was along the side of one wall and in the roof cavity. Fire investigators are at the scene and are investigating the cause of the fire, but it is being treated as suspicious,” Fire and Emergency New Zealand northern shift manager Daniel Nicholson​ said.

There are no reports of anyone being injured by the fire.

Meanwhile, firefighters helped remove a person from a crashed vehicle on Tokoroa’s Baird Rd about 10pm.
